![]() Installation help The biggest thump of ChatBuilder IRC1 is that this program doesn’t require an installation. The only thing you need to do is to copy and paste a few lines into the body of your html document.
To customize the design of the applet you can add more <param> tags into the applet HTML code. To find a list of the additional params please visit our design page. Where to place all the files? On unpacking the zip file either from a trail version or a registered version; you will find a cab, jar, htm and a variety of image files. To run the applet you simply need to double click the htm file. When you want to use the applet on your website you need to upload all the above files, and make sure that they are placed into the same directory. What about the security-warnings? Whenever applets with special permissions are downloaded on your computer (by ChatBuilder or some other company), you get notified with a security-warning window. The security-warning window indicates that the applet indeed comes from ChatBuilder and not some third party that is pretending to be ChatBuilder. Nevertheless, you must still grant the computer permission to download and run the applet on your computer. If you don't choose "yes" (for Internet Explorer) or "grant" (for Netscape), then you will not be able to run the chat applet. So always accept the security-warning from ChatBuilder. Advanced users Advanced users can use javascript to communicate with the applet. How does that work? You can send all the supported IRC commands too the applet in a simple text format. For example you want to create a HTML button that tells the applet to show the license information. Or just send some text followed with an emoticon.
