About delivery methods

When it comes time to send your message, Direct Mail offers three ways to deliver the email from your computer to the recipient's computer. You choose the delivery method in the Send window. Below is a description of each delivery method.

Your SMTP server

Like a traditional email program, you can use your ISP's SMTP server to deliver your mail. Be aware that your ISP may impose restrictions on the number of messages that can be delivered per day through their SMTP servers. To help remedy this, you can set a limit to the number messages that Direct Mail sends in the Preferences window.

e3 Delivery Service

e3 Delivery Service lets you use our servers to deliver your mail. This is useful in cases where your ISP is limiting the amount of email you can send. e3 Delivery Service is an optional pay-per-use service and is available only to Direct Mail Pro users. Choose Direct Mail > Preferences... and click "e3 Delivery Service" for more information.

About e3 Delivery Service

Direct to recipient

Direct Mail can bypass your SMTP server and deliver messages directly to the recipient's mail server. While this method avoids restrictions imposed by your ISP, it does significantly increase the chance that your message will be marked as junk mail. This is because most mail servers will assume that email sent from a dynamic IP address (i.e. not a known ISP's mail server) is junk mail. In addition, direct delivery can take an extended amount of time to complete.
