Select the folder where your MP3s are
stored initially. If
MP3s are
not in any specific location on your hard disk,
select the top level
folder (e.g. "C:\").
Select the folder where you want the
MP3s in the source
folder to be
copied/moved. Sub-folders will be created within
the target folder,
based on what's specified in the "Create
Folders By" drop down lists
lists.
These drop down lists determine the
names given to the
folders
during organising. Use the first drop down list to
select the name of
the first folder, and the second drop down
list to select the name of
the sub-folder. For example, if
you want to organise by "Genre" and
"Artist", MP3Organiser
will put all "HipHop" music into one folder,
"House" into
another folder, and so on. Within the "HipHop" folder, you
will have separate sub-folders for artists such as "Eminem"
and
"D.R.E.".
If the user proceeds with "Copy", all
the MP3s in the "Source"
directory will be copied to "Target" directory. If there were
duplicate
MP3s, only one copy will be copied to the "Target"
directory.
If the user proceeds with "Move", all
the MP3s in the "Source"
directory will be moved into 'Target" directory. If there were
duplicate MP3s, only one copy will be copied to the "Target"
directory.
This will cancel the copying or moving
of mp3s. You will
need to
confirm the cancellation.
Select which folder should be searched
for MP3s. On selecting
the
folder, the first MP3 within the folder will be displayed,.
When the user click on this button,
program will search for
the next
MP3 in the folder selected, and load its ID3 information.
The user can listen to any MP3 found by
clicking on play. This
button
can be used to listen to the MP3 before saving its
ID3 information.
Once the user the selects the folder or
clicks on "Next MP3",
all
the
ID3 details in the MP3 found will be loaded into these
text boxes.
These check boxes will enable the user
to do a search
for
ID3 tags of MP3s missing certain details (e.g. with no "Title"
and
with no "Genre"). For example, if the user wants to organise
MP3s on
"Artist" and "Genre", it may be worthwhile searching
for all MP3s without "Artist"
and "Genre" information in ID3
tags, so that these details can be
entered and saved.
This button saves ID3 information in the MP3 displayed.
This button will cancel the search for
the next MP3.
Tooltip text is available for quick
help on using the program.
When organising MP3s, due to length of
the path to a file,
the user might not be able to see the name of an
MP3 file.
The user can therefore move the mouse over the MP3 name
to
see the full name and path to the MP3. When managing tags,
only the name of the file will be displayed for convenience. The
user can see the full path to the file by moving the mouse over the
file name. Similarly, moving the mouse over
text fields, check
boxes and buttons will display the corresponding
quick help on
that item..
Since copying and moving MP3s take up
CPU resources, it is
recommended to use MP3Organiser only when the CPU is
reasonably idle,
if many MP3s need to be moved or copied.
MP3Organiser does not detect spelling
mistakes. Hence if an
ID3 tag
has a spelling mistake (e.g. "Elton Jnh" instead of
"Elton John" in the
"Artist" field), the corresponding MP3
may be moved to an incorrect
folder. However, it is just
a matter
of manually moving incorrectly spelt folders into their
appropriate
ones after the MP3Organiser has finished organising
(e.g. move the
contents of the "Elton Jnh" folder into the
"Elton John" folder.
