1.1 Installing RIQTek Manager 

1.1.1 Preparation 

Before installing RIQTek Manager, you must prepare the server for the following:

  1. Identify NIC (network identification card) the RIQTek Manager is to work with. The license is associated with an NIC.

  2. Windows 2000 Server + SP
  3. SQL SERVER 2000 +SP
  4. .NET Framework 1.1 (free download)
  5. If a former edition RIQTek Manager exists on the same computer,the primary data will be upgraded to the new edition automatically. We strongly recommend backing up all system data before upgrade. Also, please make sure that all users are logged out and the system is placed in Admin Mode.
  6. Make sure there are at least 100M of free space

Note:  If you are installing a copy for less than 15 users, you may use Windows® 2000/XP Professional and MSDE 2000(free download). There are limitations with this choice. You should check with the Microsoft® Web site for the latest information.

1.1.2 Install RIQTek Manager 

Steps:

1. Run Setup.exe.

 

2. Review license agreement, choose installation directory and click on Next.

 

3. Click Next until file copy process finishes.

 

4. Select Start RIQTek Manager to Configure, and click Next.

 

5. RIQTek Management Tool appears (see below). Please note that the head message is in red, indicating that you haven’t registered. Please click on Register License for registration. You do not need to register for trial.  (Unregistered software will enter into trail mode. During trail mode, there are a few limitations. 1.You can use the software to configure up to 5 user accounts. 2. File size on attachments is limited to 64K. 3.The trial period is 30 days. If you need to extend your trial, please send email to:  info@riqtek.com. You will need to provide a software serial number.)  

   

6. In the following window,  6365BC44799A is the software serial number generated by the system, please submit this string to the registration web page or email this information to support@riqtek.com, and we will send back a matched License Code to you.  (Note: To get your RIQTek Manager License Number, you must provide this serial number.  This number is generated  using the MAC address of the network identification card on the server.  If you have multiple NICs on  the server, you should  identify the physical location of the card.  You can also specify a NIC to use by temporarily removing network connections to other NICs during the set up process. Please be cautious with activities that might be taking place using these connections..

       

7. After you receive the License code, please copy and paste it to Input New License fields as shown above and click on Analysis.  If there is no error, click on OK to save. Otherwise, the License code may be invalid. Make sure you the serial number is correct.

8. On the console, click on Add Website.  In the appearing window, do the following: 

a. Create a name for the website.

b. Enter an appropriate Database Server.

c. Enter the username and password for the SQL SERVER.

d. Enable Import DEMO data check box if you want demo date.

(Note: The demo data creates a "Demo Project" that uses 4 user accounts with blank passwords. User account created are: PM01, DD01, TT01 and CS01. )

d. Click OK.

       

9. If you have purchased multiple licenses, repeat Step 8 to create multiple Web sites.

10. On the console, select the website (For example, RIQTek), and click Browse website. IE will be launched automatically and navigates to the Web address. (http://localhost/RIQTek/)

       

11. Please use your administrator account to login and update administrator password. The default is as follows:
            Account code: admin
            Password: (empty)

1.1.3.Configure NT log in - Optional

This is an optional log on method that supports NT credentials for windows.  Since NT logon are not secure outside the corporate firewall, it is used in intranet or VPN environment. It can be configured with the following step.

  1. On  Internet Information Service(IIS) manager, open the virtual folder of the target website (For example, RIQTek), right-click on the ntlogin.asp to open the attribute dialog.
  2. Select the File Security tab and click on Edit…   The Authentication Methods page appears.
  3. Uncheck both the Anonymous access and the Integrated Windows authentication checkboxes.
  4.  Enable the Basic authentication checkbox.
  5. Click on OK to save the configuration.

       

   

    6. Log on to your RIQTek Manager Web site after the installation. Go to the System Setting Web page (under System-System Setting). On the NT Accounts drop-down box, choose Allow NT account to login.

   

    7.  On the Details folder of the User List Web page (under System-Manage Users), enter the account of the user in NT domain.

  

    8. When configured. The Sign in with NT account button appears on the log on page. Click on the button, the NT login dialog appears.

       

 

1.2 Configuring server               

1.2.1 Configure Mail Server

You need to make sure that Microsoft’s “SMTP Service” is installed on your Web server. If you have installed “Windows 2000 Server” edition, the service is installed by default.

 

Following is an example on installing the SMTP service.

Steps:

1. Click on the Add/Remove Programs  icon in the Control Panel. Click on the  Add/Remove Windows Components. Enable the SMTP Service checkbox. Click OK.

   

 

2.Next, you will have to configure your mail server.  If you do not have a local mail server or not sure on mail transport configuration, ask your mail server administrator to set it.  For example, On  Internet Information Service (IIS) manager, open the SMTP Virtual Server Properties page. Select the Delivery tab and click on Advanced...    (Use an IP address instead of a domain name on Smart Host can improve the speed of mail transaction.)  Brackets “[]” are used to enclose the IP string.  Depending on the situation, you may also use the IP address of an external mail server.

   

3. If the external mail server requires Basic authentication, click on the Outbound Security ...  under the Delivery tab to open the Outbound Security page. Enter the account name and the password. Ask your system administrator and make sure this option does not present security risks.

    

 

    4. To take advantage of SMTP, you need to configure RIQTek Manager to use CDONTS.

5. Setting email address for users

 

1.2.2 Setting HTTPS Connection

 

The Web server can be configured with SSL to support https connections. For more information, please refer to Microsoft Web site http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnnetsec/html/SecNetHT16.asp or consult it with your IT department.

A certificate is required for SSL configurations. You may purchase a certificate or create your own. Ask your corporate IT department to evaluate.

 

For Reference Only:

You may create a certificate using a Windows 2000 CA server in the company.

Windows 2000 Server has a component to create certificate. If not already installed, you may install the windows 2000 component “Certification Server”.

Following is an example for setting a Stand-Along Root CA server.

Steps

  1. Create a CA Server. Go to the Windowed Components Wizard page. Select the type Stand-Alone Root CA to install. A website named http://YourServerNamt/certsrv/ will be created.  Now you have a CA server.

 

 

  1. Create a CA request file to be used later when submitting to a CA server.   To create this file, go to Internet Information Service (IIS) Manager and open the Property page of the target Web site.  Under the Directory Security tab, click on Server Certificate... and follow the instructions.

 

       

 

       

 

  1. When ready, visit http://YourServerName/certsrv/ and follow these steps:

       

 

 

  1. For a CA administrator to issue a permit, open Start- Programs - Administrative Tools [Certification Authority], find the pending requests and issue the permit.
  2. After the permit is issued, you can download the certnew.cer file. Visit the http://YourServerName/certsrv/ Web site, select Check on a pending certificate, follow the procedure to download the certnew.cer file.
  3. To install the certificate, go to the Directory Security tab of the property page. Open Internet Services Manager and then Default Web Site property page. Click Directory Security tab.
  4. Click on Server Certificate... .
  5. Select Process a Pending Request. Choose the downloaded certificate.

 

       

 

       

 

  1. To verify that your SSL configuration was successful, on the Default Web Site property page, select the Web Site tab to browse the SSL Port data. The following is an example of a successful configuration.

 

       

 

  1.  The default configuration disables HTTP access method after a SSL access method is configured. To enable both HTTP and HTTPS (SSL), click Edit... on the Default Web Site Property page.  The Secure Communications page appears.  Uncheck the Require secure channel checkbox.

  2. Now you can use HTTPS instead of HTTP to visit the website. The default port used for SSL method is 433.

 

       

 

1.2.3 Setting Periodic Email Reminders

 

You can use Scheduled Task service on the Windows Server to send periodic notifications.

Periodic notification are personalized to users. They can be task reminder, reports waiting for actions, list of unread messages, etc.

 

Configuration is described below: 

 

1. Go to the Control Panel folder and open the Scheduled Tasks folder.

2. Add batch tasks. A list of task description is provided below:

 

Check List:

a. Make sure the run path is correct. It is your RIQTek Manager installation path. For example, "C:\RIQTekMgr".

b. Use "localhost/RIQTekManagerServerSite" as your web server path. For example, loclhost/RIQTek.

c. Create a user account on RIQTek Manager that handles batch notification.  For example, user account: mailagent with the password mypwd.

d. By default, the system generates notifications using localhost as the domain name. You should modify the domain name, because it is used in  links on the notifications. To set up a domain name, do the following:

    1. Create Domain Name entries. Go to the Domain Name table in the Manage Types Web page. Add your domain name. For example, demo.riqtek.com.

    2. Choose a Domain Name. Go to the User List Web page (under System - Manage User). Right-click on the mailagent and choose Modify. On the Domain Name drop-down box, select a domain name.

1.3 Initial System Setup    

 

After the software is installed, system administrator should set up the system immediately.  Log on with default user account admin, and leaves the password filed blank. (format: http://YourDomainName/you_riqtek_mgr_website/login.aspx. For example, http://demo.riqtek.com/riqtekmgr/login.aspx ).

1.3.1 System Setup

The default page for all users is Home- My Home - Home Page

 

Go to the System Setting Web page (under System - System Setting).

 

System Setting page comes with a set of system parameters that determine the basic behavior of the system.

Click on the Help icon at the top of the Web page. The help system provides description to all web pages, a how-to section, and a tutorial section.

After the configuration, click OK. On the IE, click Refresh.  The Company Name will then appear on the banner.

 

1.3.1.1 System Parameter Table

 

On the System Setting Web page (under System- System Setting). Configure at least the following.

Company Name

Administrator Email Account

Outgoing Emails

 

Verify information on other data fields are correct.

Tool-tips are available by placing mouse cursor over labels.

 

 Click on the Help icon at the top of the Web page. The help system provides description to all web pages, a how-to section, and a tutorial section.

 

1.3.2 Administrator Setup

Administrator (Admin) should update the user information and password immediately.

 

Go to the User List Web page (under System - Manage Users). Right-click on admin and choose Modify.

Update information in the Details folder.

Click Submit to submit the data.

Click Change Pwd to update password.

 

Click on the Help icon.  Under the Tutorial section, click Jump Start Tutorials.
