Sync allows you to keep your Wallet information up to date across multiple Macs, iPhones, and iPod touches.

Wallet for iPhone and iPod touch: To access your data on an iPhone or iPod touch, you'll need a copy of Wallet for iPhone and iPod touch. It is available on the iTunes App Store for $4.99.

Various methods of sync are available in Wallet. Select a topic below to learn more:

Sync with MobileMe

Syncing with MobileMe is the most convenient way of syncing your Wallet information to devices. Using your MobileMe account, Wallet keeps all of your devices up to date.

To set up MobileMe sync in Wallet, head to the Wallet Preferences and click on the Sync tab. Enter your MobileMe member name and password, and close the window.

To start a sync, click the button in the Wallet toolbar. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your database. You'll be notified of any errors that occur. Once succesfully completed, the animation will stop.

Sync with WebDAV

If you have your own WebDAV server, you may set up Wallet to sync using it.

To set up WebDAV sync in Wallet, head to the Wallet Preferences and click on the Sync tab. If it's not already selected, click the sync pop-up button and choose WebDAV Sync. Enter the exact address of your server in the server location field. Enter a username and password if required, and close the window.

Server Location:
  • When providing your server address, specify the exact path for where you want your Wallet database to be stored, and make sure that this directory already exists.
  • Do not append a file name - Wallet automatically stores the database as "Database.wallet".
  • You may integrate the username into your address by implementing {username}.

To start a sync, click the button in the Wallet toolbar. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your database. You'll be notified of any errors that occur. Once succesfully completed, the animation will stop.

Sync with Dropbox

Syncing with Dropbox is similar to syncing with MobileMe. Using your Dropbox account, Wallet keeps all of your devices up to date.

To set up Dropbox sync in Wallet, head to the Wallet Preferences and click on the Sync tab. If it's not already selected, click the sync pop-up button and choose Dropbox Sync. Enter your Dropbox member name and password, and close the window.

To start a sync, click the button in the Wallet toolbar. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your database. You'll be notified of any errors that occur. Once succesfully completed, the animation will stop.

Sync with Wi-Fi (iPhone + iPod touch)

You can also manually sync data with an iPhone or iPod touch using Wi-Fi sync.

To initiate a Wi-Fi sync, first make sure both your Mac and iPhone or iPod are connected to the same local network. Open both copies of Wallet and enter your password and unlock each. Then:

  1. On your Mac, go to the menubar and select File ▸ Sync with iPhone…
  2. On your iPhone or iPod touch, tap Allow in the dialog that appears.

Syncing should then start immediately; simply wait for it to complete. This may take a few minutes depending on the size of your database.

Tip: When setting up Wallet on a new Mac or iPhone/iPod, choose the Sync Existing option in the setup assistant. This will import your synced data and set up MobileMe sync automatically.
